Participation is worth 15% of the student’s grade and the mark determined by a process of self-evaluation. In general,, marks are earned for regular, active, engaged and respectful participation in the class. Beyond coming to class regularly and arriving in a timely and prepared manner, such participation involves taking active interest in film screenings, presentations and group undertakings, asking relevant questions and offering thoughtful comments on the materials covered in the course. It also means contributing positively to the quality of the learning experience for everybody, showing intelligence, affability and consideration in your interaction with your colleagues. It can also mean demonstrating leadership qualities, taking initiative in the conception design or execution of group responsibilities. I ask students if they will be able to say that they have added value to the experience of their group when the term finishes.
